Mozilla, Google extend search deal for three more years

To retain Google as the default search provider in the Firefox browser

By CBR Staff Writer

Mozilla said in blog post that it signed a new agreement with the search engine major to retain Google as the default search provider in the Firefox browser for at least three more years.

Mozilla said that it was pleased to announce that it had negotiated a significant and mutually beneficial revenue agreement with Google. "This new agreement extends our long-term search relationship with Google for at least three additional years," added Mozilla.

Google senior vice president of Search Alan Eustace said Mozilla has been a valuable partner to Google over the years and they looked forward to continuing this great partnership in the years to come.

Mozilla, which has quarter of a share of the browser market, financial statements for the year 2010 showed that the Google contract generated 84% of Mozilla’s $123m in revenues, or approximately $103m.

Mozilla has declined to provide details of the new contract.
