We pointed out in yesterday’s issue that the one wide-open opportunity left to third parties by IBM with the Personal System/2 was something to back up those substantial hard disks, and Mountain Computer Corp, Scotts Valley, California has not been tardy in jumping in with both feet. The company yesterday introduced a whole string of back-up products, including the 40Mb TD4000 external tape drive, 60Mb and 120Mb FileSafe Series 7000 tape units, the DriveCard self-contained 3.5 Winchester with plug-in controller card, with either 20Mb or 30Mb, and the Micro Bernoulli using the Iomega Corp 20Mb removable cartridge drive, all for the 8086-based Model 30. The TD4000 also is offered for the Model 50, 60 and 80, and there is also a MicroMountain version, which uses the 50’s power supply. Prices are as for the old versions.
