Motorola Inc credits strong sales growth across all its business sectors to a storming set of third quarter figures (see page five): As digital computing and wireless communications technologies converge, we see this growth across a broad range of our semiconductor and equipment businesses, said chairman and chief executive George Fisher; sales of semiconductor sector products rose 31% to $1,510m with orders rising 25%; all major market regions posted double digit growth, led by the Asia-Pacific region; sales at the government and systems technology group rose 85% to $322m and orders were up 141%; sales of its information systems products however let the side down and declined 8% to $142m, raising again the question of why it keeps the business; sales of automotive and industrial electronics group rose 33% and orders were 27% up.
