As part of the agreement, Motorola will install CDMA hardware and software equipment in Dhaka and Chittagong, as well as along the highway between those two Bangladesh cities. Products in Phase I of the contract are being ordered and commercial deployment is scheduled for fourth quarter 2001. Phase two is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter 2001 with commercial deployment scheduled by the second quarter 2002.

When both phases are completed, Pacific Bangladesh Telecom’s network capacity will increase by an estimated 2.5 times its current subscriber base. The contract is an extension of the original CDMA 800 MHz contract signed between Pacific Bangladesh Telecom and Motorola in April 1998.
