MOTOROLA UNVEILS SERIES OF 68030 VMEBUS BOARDS

By CBR Staff Writer

Motorola Computer Systems Ltd yesterday introduced seven new OEM building block products, including two single board computers built around the MC68030 microprocessor. The MVME141, which has an entry level retail price of UKP4,000, combines a 30MHz 68030 with a 68882 floating point co-processor and 64Kb cache. The MVME147 single board computer at UKP3,500 combines 25MHz or 20MHz 68030 with a new MVME6000 VME gate array, which provides all VME interface functions on a single chip, significantly reducing the component count for VME systems. The MVME133XT addition to the mid-range offerings combines a 25MHz 68020 with 68882 and 4Mb of memory as a single board system; no price. The MVME224 and MVME230 are new memory boards carrying 4Mb or 8Mb, and the MVME224 features an interface to the VME Subsystem Bus. The MVME327 is a disk controller board, again no price. System level versions of the products are also available.
