Under the terms of the contract, Motorola will install a combination of point-to-point and point-to-multi point wireless broadband network systems to connect provincial offices and administrative agencies in Dong Thap.

The Dong Thap Canopy deployment will support the triple play service set of high-speed internet, VoIP and video calls over a single broadband platform. Besides the physical system, ongoing technical support will be provided by Motorola via E&T Company, an authorized Canopy solution provider, to ensure the smooth running of the network.

The wireless broadband network will be deployed in phases, with 10 local government departments being covered in the first phase. By mid-2007, the network will be expanded to cover 30 departments and agencies, as well as 10 remote districts.

Currently, communications between the Dong Thap People’s Committee and local agencies and districts are done through 64Kbps dial-up connection or expensive 64Kbps leased lines.

Beyond this deployment, Motorola and its partners intend to continue to work with other local enterprises, municipalities and carriers to enable wireless broadband communications throughout Vietnam.
