Motorola will provide 1000 MTP850Ex handheld radio devices that are specifically designed for the utilisation in hazardous surroundings, as well as corresponding accessories. The intrinsically safe “Ex-device range” will be used primarily by fire departments in Saxony-Anhalt, in the Eastern part of Germany. The TETRA digital radio devices will be delivered throughout the next three years.
Motorola says that the MTP850Ex is certified under the ATEX and IECEx international certification schemes for protection against explosive gas and dust clouds. The device ensures secure and reliable voice and data communication even under extreme conditions, such as high temperatures.
Manuel Torres, vice president and general manager for Government & Public Safety at Motorola, EMEA, said: “We are happy that the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt has chosen our devices designed for the use in difficult environments. Motorola’s TETRA solutions have been the first choice already for more than 45 customers in the private sector in Germany.”
Motorola offers official authorities and organisations entrusted with public safety tasks (BOS) an extensive portfolio, which includes the MTP850Ex as well as standard handheld radio devices, mobile radio units with optional gateway and repeater function for use in vehicles, covert radio devices for concealed carrying, and accessories that are customised to the user’s needs. All devices support end-to-end encoding as required in digital radio communication.
Motorola provides TETRA technology to over 350 customers across 90 countries world-wide.
