By CBR Staff Writer

Motorola Inc expects the total market for wireless communications market to hit $60,000m in 1994, up about 20% from the prior year and should hit $600,000m in the year 2010: the total number of customers worldwide for wireless communications should grow from 119m to 300m by 2000 and reach 900m by 2010; in the US market, a big factor in Motorola’s sales of wireless hardware will be the upcoming US government auctions for frequencies to be used by the new class of Personal Communications Services; Motorola told the conference it expects the long-awaited auctions to be completed in late 1994 or early 1995 and services to begin in 1996.
