The firm has already signed contracts with top US operators, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, AT&T Wireless and VoiceStream. Motorola will take its 330 handset and customize it so that the phone suits the operator’s brand image by changing the shape and the color of the phones. Even the software will be adapted to match the brand – ring tones and games will also vary by operator.

The phone will be aimed at the low-end market, with each device coming in at around $100. The customized phones will be available in the US from September.
