Ameritech Inc, Northern Telecom Ltd and Motorola Inc are joining forces to develop applications that apply Integrated Services Digital Network facilities. Under the four-year agreement, the trio will work on enterprise integration, using the high-speed digital speech, data and video networking technology to tie together the various departments of a firm – sales, service, engineering, marketing – so as to improve internal communication and cut time taken to perform vital tasks. Motorola and Ameritech hope to offer applications in the next 12 months. Motorola will try out systems and equipment in a lab at its Schaumberg, Illinois headquarters, Ameritech’s Illinois Bell will provide telecommunications facilities on a Northern Telecom central exchange.
