MOTOROLA MAKES HEADWAY ON THE JAPANESE MARKET

Motorola Inc feels that it is beginning to make headway in the Japanese market even before its Tohuku Semiconductor Co joint venture with Toshiba Corp is properly up and running: Texas Instruments is still way out ahead with Japanese sales running at $430m to $450m, but Electronics estimates that Motorola is now doing some $170m a year now, and the company says that its share is growing faster than the Japanese market as a whole.
