Tao Group Ltd, Reading, UK has such a hot property with its Taos distributed portable operating system with minuscule 10Kb to 13Kb kernel and take only the bits you need modularity that the company can afford to be thoroughly choosy about its investment partners, but having implemented Taos for the PowerPC (CI No 2,625), it has graciously agreed to take some of Motorola Inc’s money and give the company a seat on the board. The sum invested has not been disclosed, but it is to seal a deal under which Tao will develop Taos-derived software and system-level products aimed at the portable computing and communications, Internet, audiovisual and digital imaging markets over the next 18 months or so. Tao is promising to make announcements on specific software products later this year.
