Motorola invests in mobile content testing provider

Motorola Inc has announced that it has made an equity investment in Mobile Complete Inc, which provides a set of products designed to help content providers test their products and services on a wide range of mobile handsets and networks.

San Mateo, California-based Mobile Complete was founded in 2003, and in December 2005 it launched its flagship product, DeviceAnywhere.com, which enables content providers to test their mobile applications and services on a wide range of mobile handsets, including overseas handsets and networks. It does this by Direct-To-Device technology, which consists of proprietary software that allows the remote control and operation of mobile handsets directly from the user’s PC.

This allows for the creation of a virtual development and testing lab for a customer’s global developer community. Content providers can then access real mobile devices over the internet at any time, from any location. This service has been deployed across 10 carrier networks and five locations, including the US, Canada, and the UK.

Other products include MarketAnywhere, which allows the creation of a virtual marketing platform, LiveMonitor, which allows for the monitoring of the end-user experience of a customer’s mobile services in real-time, and LiveTest, which automates the testing of applications, handsets, and services.

Motorola Ventures made an undisclosed investment in Mobile Complete, as part of a Series B funding round. Existing investor Innovacom VC also participated in the funding round.
