Motorola invests in GPS vendor

Six-year-old Global Locate sells GPS semiconductor, software and services for various mobile devices, including handsets, smartphones, two-way radios and automotive applications.

Global Locate is a compelling addition to our portfolio of cutting-edge technology investments, said Warren Holtsberg, Motorola VP of equity investments, in a statement.

San Jose, California-based Global Locate’s network products include its World Wide Reference Network, a source of GPS assistance data, as well an A-GPS Server, a software kernel licensed by network equipment vendors for core network products.
