Motorola has launched the MTP850S, its new portable TErrestrial Trunked RAdio (TETRA) terminal for mission critical communication.

Based on Motorola’s MTP850 model, the new MTP850S is designed for use in tough surroundings; it claims to have additional safety features, improved coverage, better ergonomics and robust design.

An integrated voice and data service provides access to immediate information and a customised menu gives quick access to features like talk groups, contact lists, mailbox, text messaging and the ‘My Groups’ feature. Moreover, a ‘Man Down’ feature, a 12-pin side connector and an emergency button are also added.

Jens Kristiansen, vice president and general manager of TETRA Global Products and Solutions at Motorola, said: “Motorola has a history of developing technology that is second nature in the hands of emergency service workers. This extension to the MTP850 range builds on Motorola’s reputation for delivering intuitive communication devices that place officer safety at the forefront of design.”
