MOTOROLA HAS PACT WITH SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGIES DIVISION

By CBR Staff Writer

Motorola Inc describes as unprecedented an agreement between its Application Specific Integrated Circuits division and the Automated Test Equipment division of Schlumberger Technologies a business that the Franco-American oilfield services firm has put on the block: the new pact provides for development of semiconductor tester technology and delivery of five of the new test systems to Motorola from third quarter of 1990, following a prototype in October of this year; the initial agreement is valued at more than $8m but will have much broader ramifications through its ultimate impact on the estimated $625m worldwide digital component test equipment market, they reckon.
