Motorola Inc’s Wireless Data Group has a contract to provide a public wireless data network system to Telecom Australia on undisclosed terms: the DataTAC wireless information system will enable Telecom Australia to offer radio data packet-switched service to its network customers, and the service will be introduced later this year, initially in the Sydney area, offering electronic mail, information services and database access for both fixed and mobile customers; the company also said that the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, has been testing the Modacom system in the Rhein-Ruhr area of central Germany, has started rolling the service out to industrial areas of the country and that by the end of 1995, 80% of Germany will be covered by the service at a cost of $150m all told.
