MOTOROLA DOES EMBEDDED PCI TECHNOLOGIES

By CBR Staff Writer

We’ve heard next to nothing about embedded PCI technologies since the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group published a CompactPCI specification for an embedded version of the bus architecture early last year (CI No 2,833). But now Motorola Computer Group says it will develop a range of PCI-based boards and systems for embedded PowerPC and Windows NT/Intel markets. It will also deliver a new generation of real-time, fault-tolerant- availability systems with technology such as hot-swapping for the telecom market. Motorola has also joined the PCI Manufacturer’s group. It’s now offering an MCP700 CompactPCI board for telcos and industrial automation companies.
