Motorola’s Tempe, Arizona-based Microcomputer Division has introduced a new entry-level addition to its Delta 88000 RISC series. The Model 8408, which the company rates at 17 MIPS performance, uses a 20MHz version of the processor and comes with 8Mb memory, six add-on slots and supports up to 64 users. Available with 600Mb or 300Mb storage capacity, prices are $26,685 and $23,935 respectively. The previous bottom-end machine in the series was the Model 8608 at $27,935. Motorola has been making a name for itself in systems in Europe but has still to make the breakthrough in the US.
