Motorola Inc has bought a minority stake in San Jose, California- based Online Anywhere, a maker of software that transforms web pages for display on PDAs, TVs, telephones and other networked devices. Online Anywhere’s remapping server is also compatible with the new web standard, extensible markup language (XML). Motorola has been making significant investments in the network- attached device markets, acquiring handwriting recognition company Lexicon Corp and Philippe Kahn’s PDA startup Starfish Software Inc. The company is also a key player, with Nokia, Ericsson and Psion, in the Symbian alliance to build wireless information devices. How does it all fit together? We’ll let you know as soon as Motorola Ventures’ Elton B. Sherwin gets back to us.
