Motorola Inc’s Orlando, Florida-based Land Mobile Products Sector says it has a new digital wireless communications technology that will enable operators of Specialised Mobile Radio systems to expand the capacity of their existing networks up to six times, while providing fully integrated voice and data services: called MIRS, for Motorola Integrated Radio System, the technology will enable Specialised Mobile operators to to offer customers a broad range of new mobile telecommunications services – but not until it’s ready in 1993; it segments singular analogue channels into as many as six parts to serve multiple customers on one 25KHz frequency, and can be used to digitise Specialised Mobile Radio systems in their present configuration.
