The Networks business of Motorola has introduced fourth-generation of plug-and-play customer premises equipments (CPE) – the CPEi 800 and the CPEi 885, which are designed to help operators reduce cost, increase market penetration and reduce customer churn.

Motorola said that its basic data-only wireless modem CPEi 800 features internal antennas that are optimised for high orientation gain, with signal strength indicators. It is offered in all bands, and provides capability and functionality to support home-networking needs, including digital entertainment and high-speed broadband access.

The company said that its fully-integrated multiple port data, voice over IP (VoIP) and high-end WiFi (b/g/n and 2x2n) device CPEi 885 incorporates a 2.4GHz WiFi 2x2n router and features one data and two ATA ports. It supports WiMAX, WiFi b/g/n and WiFi protected setup (WPS).

Fred Gabbard, vice president of product management at Motorola Networks, said:"Motorola continues to deliver greater innovation and diversity in our product lines to meet today’s demands for advanced home-networking solutions. These additions to our portfolio demonstrate our commitment to WiMAX, ensuring our operator customers have the right products, at the right time, to advance their businesses."
