Google’s mobile division Motorola has launched a low-cost smartphone Moto G, which is to be offered at a third of the current price of their high-end mobile models.

In the US, the new Moto G will be available at $179 with 8GB of storage and $199 for 16GB internal memory.

The smartphone is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz featuring a quad-core CPU along with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM to enable multitasking, while supporting services like web, videos and games.

Motorola will launch the device with Android 4.3 Jellybean, which will be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat in early 2014.

Moto G features a 4.5-inch HD display and comes with 19 customisation options including interchangeable Motorola Shells and Flip Shells in seven colours.

The phone features 5MP rear camera with an LED flash and a 1.3MP front facing camera to enable video calling.

The device is currently available in Brazil and parts of Europe. Motorola plans to launch it throughout Latin America, Europe, Canada and parts of Asia within the next few weeks.

Additionally, Motorola plans to sell the device in the US, India, the Middle East and more of Asia in early January as well as in a further 30 countries through 60 carries by 2014.
