Motorola Mobility has introduced a new, expanded product line of Carrier Ethernet offerings, which the company says will satisfy the diverse business services and mobile backhaul needs of the MSO market.
Motorola’s new Carrier Ethernet portfolio consists of a number hub-based aggregation switches/routers, customer premises based demarcation products, an Ethernet Service Management platform, and an innovative 10 Gbps Carrier Ethernet switch designed for deployment in the Fiber Node.
With the new Carrier Ethernet product line, MSO service providers can deploy cost-effective commercial services and mobile backhaul applications and it offers "one-stop shopping" which offers service providers quality Carrier Ethernet products at competitive price points, enabling MSO service providers to continue to expand their share of the lucrative Ethernet business services market.
Certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), the Carrier Ethernet product line allows customers to extend end-to-end Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) to the edge of their network, increasing scalability and facilitating a true multi-service network.
Motorola Mobility Network Infrastructure senior vice-president and general manager Joe Cozzolino said the combination of Motorola and Telco Systems provides complete offerings for commercial services that enable cable operators to leverage their HFC fiber infrastructure while minimising the number of fibers required to provide commercial services.
"Cable service providers are looking for new and innovative ways to expand their business services offerings including serving the exploding bandwidth requirements in the mobile backhaul market. Our customers can quickly deploy our offerings to help meet these needs in a cost-effective manner," said Cozzolino.
