Data communications and telecommunications equipment provider Motorola Solutions has launched enterprise-class tablet ET1, which is designed for a variety of industries.
The ET1 features enhanced durability, an optional barcode scanner and magnetic stripe reader, hot-swappable battery packs, secure system software and secure multi-slot recharging stations.
The new Wi-Fi-enabled tablet is based on log-in information and is password-protected, said the company.
With ET1, retailers can run a variety of applications developed by Motorola’s extensive partner and independent software vendor (ISV) community, including: assisted selling; mobile point of sale (mPOS); manager electronic dashboards; planogram management and compliance; and an item locator.
ET1 runs an enterprise-ready hardened version of the Android operating system and it uses Gorilla Glass 7-inch color display for video and image display.
ET1 is supported by Motorola’s portfolio of enterprise-grade software modules including RhoElements, a new HTML5 application enablement framework.
ET1 features a durable design to withstand accidental drops and bumps; optional integrated bar code scanner and magnetic stripe reader; and a hot-swappable rechargeable battery pack, with memory back-up battery to retain RAM data for up to 15 minutes.

In addition, ET1 also features a single- and multi-slot tablet and battery chargers; front- and rear-facing cameras; bluetooth-connected handheld bar-code scanners, mobile-payment readers and mobile printers.
Motorola Solutions Asia Pacific Corporate vice-president Phey Teck Moh said Motorola serve many enterprise customers across many industry verticals and work closely with IT managers to address their concerns and the company see the rise of the mobile worker as one key emerging trend businesses need to prepare for.
"The ET1 will give enterprise users the familiar experience of a consumer tablet in a sleek package, with all the enterprise must-haves such as applications, durability, security, device management whether they are from retail, logistics, supply-chain, healthcare or other industry segments," said Moh.
