A judge belonging to US International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that Motorola Mobility did not violate Apple’s patent technology in any of its BackFlip, Cliq, Droid and other smartphones.

Google, which is set to buy the Motorola Mobility, is looking for a clearance of any such allegations.

The judge gave the clean chit in a suit filed by Apple over patents’ complaints in October 2010.

The final ruling is expected in March.

ITC can bar devices from importation on infringement of technology.

Two of the patents are centred around manual input while the third related to adding applications without having to reboot the smartphone.

The battle is part of a fight between Apple and the Android OS, being promoted actively by Google.
