Google’s Motorola Mobility has filed a new patent infringement case with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging that Apple has infringed its patents including Siri voice-recognition programme in its devices.
The patents are associated with Apple’s devices which include the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and the company is seeking a ban on the import of those devices which are manufactured overseas.
Motorola has alleged that various Apple devices have infringed upon seven of its patents which include features like location reminders, e-mail notification, and phone/video players, according to Bloomberg.
Motorola spokeswoman said that the company would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple’s unwillingness to work out a license leaves it little choice but to defend themselves ourselves and their engineers’ innovations.
This is the second claim which Motorola has filed against the Cupertino based-Apple.
In April 2012, US judges were in favour of Motorola in a case against Apple which concluded that Apple infringed one of the four patents included in the first case and the final decision is expected to be on 24 August 2012 which could lead to an import ban of iPhones in the US.
