Mothercare UK’s move down from IBM 3090 to AS/400 technology (CI No 1,467), is to take place in two stages; the company is running down its 3090 operations by moving to an AS/400 Model B35, followed by a B70 within a month; Hoskyns FM is moving the existing 3090-150E off-site and Mothercare hopes to have finished with it by next year; Mothercare says Hoskyns won the contract primarily because it was willing to take the 3090 off-site, something neither IBM UK nor Electronic Data Systems was keen to do.
