MOSTEK PURGE WILL COST JOBS IN TEXAS AND MALAYSIA

By CBR Staff Writer

The Mostek unit of Thomson is making a major housecleaning of its product lines, and will purge the slow-selling parts, likely including its 68200 microcontroller based on the 68000; the effort will cost 130 jobs in Carrollton, Texas, and another 400 people will be losing their jobs in Malaysia following the planned closure of the Mostek chip assembly facility in Penang.
