Moscow-based NMT 450 cellular network Moscow Cellular Communications is to increase its coverage to 93% of the Moscow region by the end of 1996. It announced the creation of a new base station in Solnechnogorsk near Moscow and nine more are due this year. At present the Moscow Cellular Communications network consists of 73 base stations – 46 of them in the city of Moscow and 27 in the Moscow region. The cellular network operator is a joint venture founded by US West Inc, Millicom International Inc, AO MMT, Moscow City Telephone Network, the MNTK Research Institute and Russian Television.
