Monitise, a UK-based technology services provider to financial institutions, has developed two new banking apps for NatWest and RBS specifically designed for the iPad.

The company said that with the apps, the banks can transfer money and check out balances and latest transactions. They can also get a quick quote using the built in loan calculator.

Monetise said that the apps can also be used by bank customers to: carry out balance and recent transactions enquiries for all their accounts; find their nearest cash machine or branch; top up their pre-paid mobile account; and get a quick quote or calculate repayment options.

Monitise chief executive Alastair Lukies said as a global, trusted developer of mobile banking, payments and commerce services, the company is delighted to welcome the launch of the new apps.

Lukies said, "Providing convenient, simple and helpful mobile money technology and applications for our partners and clients is at the heart of our collaborative, integrated network approach."

"Banks are benefiting from a wave of innovation in mobile money with, for example, the latest technology offering real-time money transfers, smarter alerts, branch locators and interactive messaging. These are all creating new ways for banks to engage with their customers. Monitise is proud to be involved in such a dynamic mobile money space," Lukies added.
