Momenta Inc, Mountain View, California is now shipping its pen-based Momenta Computer in volume in the US and Germany: the machine has two boot modes, one for Windows 3.0 and the other for the proprietary Momenta environment, and is supported by the PenCell spreadsheet from PenWare; StylusWP word processor from Rupp Corp; and QueryPaper SQL database access application from O2Ware, the latter two shipping in April; it is also claimed to run any MS-DOS or Windows application; the 80386SX-based machine costs $5,000, has a built-in facsimile and data modem, which according to Microbytes can be used to pick up the two new applications when they are ready, a 40Mb disk, detachable keyboard, and support for Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing-based applications as they are released.
