IBM Corp is among 50 companies calling for a return to smaller classes, traditional teaching methods, and encouragement of social skills after finding that many school leavers had difficulties with reading, writing and arithmetic – so much so that many of the companies have had to start remedial courses for the school-leavers they take on, who exhibit difficulty in concentration, poor social skills, and no aptitude for team-work – where? In the UK, of course… well, no, actually: must be the US then? No, not there either – it’s painful to have all ones illusions so cruelly shattered, but the country is Germany.
