MODCOMP ADDS INTELLIGENT PROCESSOR SYSTEM TO OFF-LOAD ITS MINIS

AEG AG’s Modular Computer Systems, ModComp, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has brought out a series of Intelligent Processor Systems for its minis. The IPS-1, IPS-2, and the IPS-Express are microprocessor-based peripheral subsystems providing industry standard bus interfaces. The IPS-1 provides an AT bus with 43.1Mb Winchester and 1Mb floppy plus controllers. The IPS-2 includes the IPS-2 VMEbus with support for several proces control interfaces, SCS interface, disk, tape and communications controllers plus up to 12Mb of memory that can be used as main memory of cache, in a nine or 20-slot chassis with power supply. The IPS-2 supports up to four Host Interface Adaptors, for up to four ModComp minis. The IPS Express package provides a hard disk, with additional disks and cartridge tapes available. Prices are $7,000 for the IPS-2, $8,000 for the IPS-2, $12,000 for the IPS-Express, and they are out now.
