Competition is hotting up in the mobile telephone market in Japan, where after causing several diplomatic incidents over barriers to its market entry, Nippon Motorola Inc now says that now the rules have been changes, it can’t keep up with demand for its cellular phones – it’s too busy filling an order for 4,500 of the things from Kansai Cellular Telephone Co: NEC Corpas now developed a model similar to the MicroTac, but Motorola claims that its model is more pocket-friendly, while NEC’s is heavier and only really suitable for a briefcase – but Mitsubishi Electric Corp is designing one that will be only half the size and weight of the MicroTac.
