Whether they decided to call it a day over mobile phones is not recorded. But mobile phone pioneer Craig McCaw has agreed to give his wife Wendy the world’s largest divorce settlement – $463m in stock plus $19m in real estate. The amount agreed was so large, reports the Daily Telegraph, that the Securities and Exchange Commission had to be notified of the stock transfers involved. McCaw made his fortune when he sold out to AT&T Corp in 1994 and put the money into Nextel Communications Inc and Nextlink Communications Inc, whose shares make up the bulk of the divorce settlement of the couple who couldn’t communicate. Wendy McCaw claimed that after 22 years of marriage her husband left her unfulfilled though with the current state of her assets, she may now be able to fulfill a few ambitions denied to the rest of us…
