Installed with medical references supplied by Skyscape, a provider of interactive mobile references, the pocket PCs allow clinicians access to real-time information and up-to-date medical references whilst making their rounds at the hospital.

Introduced as part of the hospital’s Clinician’s PDA Project, a program which recognizes the support technology can lend to efforts at improving patient care, it is hoped that the use of PDAs will result in quicker decision making and fewer clinical errors.

Alex Khayat, the hospital’s manager for architecture, standards and emerging technologies said, Now instead of waiting minutes to obtain the relevant patient information and decide on a course of action, clinicians can access this information, as well as critical decision support references, directly at their fingertips, enabling faster, more informed decision making with fewer errors.
