MITSUI UNIT TO MARKET 80386 PERSONALIKE AT $5,000 IN US

By CBR Staff Writer

A flood of low-priced 80386-based Personalikes is on the way from Japan, and latest to enter the lists is Alps Electric, which has unveiled the CP-EX with 2Mb 80386 processor, 1.2Mb floppy and 40Mb Winchester. Alps is taking OEM orders for the machine from this week, but has already lined up US and European marketing through an offshoot of the giant Mitsui trading empire. The Mitsui Bossan marketing company is planning to introduce the Alps box into the US in April as the CP386TOP, at $5,000. Alps is primarily known for floppy disk drives.
