MITSUI GOES TO FUJI XEROX FOR LASER PRINTER

By CBR Staff Writer

Japanese trading giant Mitsui & Co has gone to Fuji Xerox Corp for an engine for a price-busting oriental langauge laser printer: the local price is around the $4,000 mark because the character generators have to be so large, but by going for a super-cheap engine based on copier technology and a few other cost-cutting measurs, Mitsui has got the price down to below $2,000 – suggesting that a dramatic cut in prices could be achieved with a version for the simple Roman alphabet.
