Mitsubishi Electric Corp has won an order from Meiji Life Insurance Company, a major Japanese life company, of 3,000 of its 32-bit Maxynote notebook personal computer – but Meiji isn’t going mad – the machines are to be shared among a total of 17,000 life insurance salesmen: the 16MHz 80386SX machine is designed for use by salespeople both on the job and at home and software maintenance is facilitated by use of a removable hard disk; the Maxy machine is designed to the AX Japanese version of the AT standard and it weighs 6 lbs 6 oz and measures 12 by 9.6 by 1.9.
