Mitsubishi Electric Corp has established a European design and development centre for applications-specific integrated circuits at its premises in Ratingen, West Germany.
Separately, the company said that it would invest $110m to expand its wafer fab in Durham, North Carolina so that it will be able to turn out memory chips as well as applications-specific integrated circuits. Completion is set for January 1990, with initial output, of 1M dynamics, set at 500,000 parts a month.
