Mitsubishi Electric Corp will convert its TV factory in Nagano, Japan into a semiconductor-making subsidiary, according to the Nikkei Daily News. The Nagano factory, with 500 employees, has produced color TVs since 1969. The plant, to be spun off as a wholly owned subsidiary, will likely handle chip assembly, inspection and other related processes, but details have yet to be worked out.
