The Japanese majors are convinced that Personal Digital Assistants are going to be an enormous market, and the latest to declare is Mitsubishi Electric Corp, but it denies local press reports that it has already decided on the PowerPC RISC as its processor. The company affirms that it is developing a device that it hopes to have ready for the market by the end of 1995, building into it paging and facsimile functions, and looking at additional ones. The thing will run the Magic Cap mobile operating system from General Magic Corp, where Mitsubishi is one of the host of corporate investors, but as to he chip, the company concedes that PowerPC is a possibility, but says it has not decided which processor it will be using yet.
