Mitsubishi Electric Corp has introduced a high-resolution static image transmission system, the HRG-1000, which can send documents up to A3 in size over 64Kbps lines: the input device can be either a camera scanner or a flatbed scanner, and the digitised image is decoded by a static image control device at the other end and output on a laser printer; an ISDN interface will be offered, and Mitsubishi looks to sell 1,000, at $64,000 apiece in the first three years of marketing.
