Mitsubishi Electronics America based in Torrance, California has announced its entry into the fast growing laptop market – sales are expected to grow 62% this year -with an MS-DOS and OS/2 compatible family dubbed the big screen desktop/laptop: the basic unit, the MP286L-210, starts at $3,195 and includes a dual 3.5 1.44Mb floppy disk drive; models with 20Mb hard disk drives are also available; the laptop weighs in at 15.9 lbs and is 3.5 high by 12.3 wide by 14.2 deep and the big screen is 11 diagonal; evaluation units are available in the US now, with production quantities available in July.
