Mitsubishi Electric Corp is to start selling its MP286 AT-alike in the US – but only after the trade row with the US dies down: the machine comes with 640Kb to 5.5Mb and will go for $2,495 to $4,495, and Mitsubishi Electronics America hope sto sell 22,000 this year, 30,000 in 1988, and 40,000 in 1989; it will follow up with an 80386 box and a lap-top, and the sales will be in addition to the 120,000 sold through Sperry in 1985 and 80,000 through Sperry and Unisys in 1986; it is already assembling floppy disk drives in California but moving to local production, and is aiming to source 50% of parts locally.
