Mitsubishi Electric has repositioned its CAD/CAM Division to push it more firmly in the manufacturing sector, by moving it from its Computer Systems Group to the Energy and Industrial Systems Group, which has responsibility for machine electric products and process control: this will give CAD/CAM a new key role in the implementation of Computer Integrated Manufacturing systems, and facilitate the development of general manufacturing systems which integrate management information, industrial processes and assembly data; the switch will also make it easier to carry out joint development with specific industries, and to introduce third party software; Mitsubishi is aiming to increase its computer-aided design system sales this year to somewhere around $90m, for a 13% hike.
