Japanese electronics firm Mitsubishi Electric has introduced a new ‘Mitsubishi Electric Smart Home’ concept.

Integrating sensors and linked appliances alongside other household equipment that support everyday lives, the new concept facilitates users to share information about their mental and physical conditions.

The existing smart house concept features advanced appliances and other tools which can visualise as well as optimally control household energy consumption through information technology.

The latest smart home concept focuses on family members’ mental and physical conditions alongside comfortable stress-free lifestyles.

The latest system works by initially identifying and authenticating each family member using cameras, then a door-handle sensor accumulates biological information and assesses physical condition which the health and routine schedules of each member then displayed.

Refrigerator doors are able to display suggested recipes as per the gathered body data with sensing devices and food items available in the refrigerator.

Mitsubishi said in a statement: "Although specific commercial applications for Mitsubishi Electric Smart Home have not been determined yet, Mitsubishi Electric is conducting research and development to apply the concept in its smart-house and home-appliance businesses."

A recent HP study noted that consumers of smart home security systems and monitoring devices are at risk of being tampered by hackers.
