Planning an imminent product launch is Kanata, Ontario-based Mitel Corp’s Mitel Telecom, which will unveil NeVaDa Networked Voice & Data, claiming it to be the world’s first offering for integrating real-time voice, video and data onto a common, enterprise-wide 155Mbps Asynchronous Transfer Mode local net backbone. NeVaDa uses one protocol to carry voice and data, enabling PABX and local network traffic to share one infrastructure – a feature Mitel claims avoids the expense of having two separate networks. An essential component of NeVaDa is an Asynchronous Mode Synchronous Digital Hierarchy module developed with Madge Networks Ltd. Ships start next month but no pricing details were given.
