Mitel Corp yesterday announced that it is cutting another 400 jobs in a further restructuring of its North American operations. It is closing its facility in Boca Raton, Florida and forming a North American executive office in the Washington area although corporate headquarters will remain in Kanata, Ontario. It will continue the amalgamation of its Canadian and US sales and marketing groups which have responsibility for operations in North and Latin America. It is also consolidating activities within its corporate operations in Kanata, and operations in the Pacific Rim, the UK and continental Europe although the UK will be little affeceted as Mitel’s sales and profitability in this area have been satisfactory and the order book is strong. It sees a further operating loss and additional charges for the new cutbacks in the fiscal year just over.
